The Scottish Sea bird visitor centre is a building right on the
seafront between the harbour / dinghy park and the east beach. It
features a viewing gallery with good quality telescopes for looking at
sea birds in the immediate vicinity.
Remote television cameras, controlled by microwave links, are on the
Isle of May the Bass Rock and Fidra. Visitors may play around with
the azimuth, elevation and focus control using a low bit rate tele-command
link to the actuators that drive the camera positioning mechanisms.
The television view of the island sea birds is spectacular and is shown
on large screens.
Educational exhibits explain life on the seashore and details about
the commonly seen seabirds. There is a small cinema which
shows frequent films which are worth waiting for.
If you are hungry or want to buy presents such as seabird pictures
for the folks back home there are plenty of souvenirs to choose from.
