About half way along the High Street there is junction into Church Road, to the north.  This road has the main bus stop on the east side and if you then go ahead about 100 yards you cross Road and the West Bay and beach are directly ahead of you.

Entering west beach

Just before the beach you may buy bucket and spade in an outdoor shop on the left side of Church Road.

Entering the beach is straight ahead to the right of the flagpole.  The flag indicates that the beach has won some kind of clean beach award. Just before this is a an open grassy area on the left where you may walk more easily and there is the opportunity to rest and have a picnic while viewing the beach and sea. On the grass is an example of North Berwick Art - a metal sculpture of three dolphins.

To the right is a view along the backs of houses which back directly into the beach.  Some have private wooden steps to get down to the sand.  Further along is the North Berwick Harbour.  The sheltered harbour entrance is visible and also the launching ramp where boats and the lifeboat may be brought to the water.

Ahead is a view of the Craig island.  Some small sailing boats are moored here.

To the left are some low lying rocks which for a hazard for boats at high tide.  The tide is out at the time of these photographs.  Rock pools are an attraction with all kinds of creatures lurking in the sea water.
