Welcome to North Berwick's |

North Berwick's
harbour provides shelter from the north east winds. There are a number
of active fishing boats. Crab and lobster pots are stacked around. The
picture on the left shows many sailing boats. Behind the harbour is
the dinghy park, where the old open air swimming pool used to be. The
area is now filled with fast single hull and catamaran type craft. At
weekends the East Lothian Yacht Club is active, with races organised. There is an inflatable Blue Peter Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) boat, normally kept in its house at the top of the slipway onto west bay beach. Being mobile on its trailer, the craft may also be moved by road to other launch points to serve emergencies elsewhere. The view to the west, through the harbour entrance shows the west bay beach in the distance. Boats may be rented for fishing and diving. Trips are also available, either to view the Bass Rock or to several nearby islands on fast fun ride sporty RIB. Diving is possible and the lowest pictures on the left shows divers loading vis the West Bay outer harbour wall and preparing to go on a dive. |
